The select committee that has been set up to consider the statements made by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Defence concerning the events of 22nd July was constituted on 23rd November. Mr Knut Arild Hareide has been appointed committee chair, Mr Jan Bøhler is first vice chair, and Mr Anders Anundsen is second vice chair.

On Thursday 10th November, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Defence made statements to the Storting regarding the terror attacks of 22nd July. A decision was made to appoint a select committee whose remit would be to further consider the matter.
On 23rd November, the select committee was formally constituted. The committee has been given the full title of the Select Committee for Considering the Statements made to the Storting by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Defence on 10th November 2011 regarding the Attacks of 22nd July.

The authority to appoint such a committee may be found in the Storting’s Rules of Procedure, Section 14, first paragraph.
The Election Committee was given the task of appointing the members of the select committee, and it submitted its recommendations on 16th November.

The matter will be debated in the Storting once the select committee has completed its enquiries and submitted its recommendations.
