IPU elects first ever female Secretary General

At the top of the agenda during the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) 152^nd Assembly in Istanbul was the election of a new Secretary General. Romania’s Anda Filip received 72 per cent of the votes, and was duly elected.

On 23^rd April 2026, the Storting elected a new Presidium. Morten Stordalen has been elected as the First Vice President of the Storting, and Alf Erik Andersen has been elected as the Fourth Vice President.
