Inter-parliamentary delegations – a network for MPs
The Storting is a member of ten inter-parliamentary organizations and collaborative bodies, where Members of Parliament (MPs) from different countries meet to exchange experiences and discuss common challenges. Most MPs in the Storting serve on one or more of the inter-parliamentary delegations, and promote and protect the Storting’s interests in matters that extend beyond Norway’s national borders.
Several of the inter-parliamentary bodies in which the Storting participates have a corresponding collaboration at governmental level, such as NATO and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers. In this way, international parliamentary assemblies have the opportunity to make recommendations both to national governments and to international governmental cooperation.
