The Sameting comes to the Storting

The Sameting – the Sami Parliament – will be holding its plenary session from 21st – 25th September in the Storting. Among the items on the agenda are Sami tourism and the return of Sami cultural heritage.

The Sameting’s plenary session will last for the entire week in question. Committee meetings will take place in the Storting’s Committee Building on the Monday and Tuesday, while the plenary sittings will be held in the Lagting Chamber from Wednesday 23rd September onwards. The plenary sittings are open to the public and may be followed from the gallery. Access to these sittings will be from the public entrance on Karl Johans gate.

Among the issues under consideration will be a statement on Sami sports; a report on solidarity and international relations; Sami tourism; and the return of Sami cultural heritage.

The Storting has invited the Sameting to hold one of its four annual plenary sessions in Oslo to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sameting.

The Sameting is responsible for the session’s programme and its execution, while the Storting will assist with practical details.
