“This year’s Nobel Peace Prize is an important encouragement to a peace process which after long and painstaking progress has run into difficulties. President Santos has shown great political courage, patience and willingness to compromise in a long and difficult peace process. I hope the prize will help ensure that everything that’s been achieved will not be lost after last week’s referendum in Colombia,” Mr Thommessen said.

The winner of this year’s prize was announced on Friday 7 October.
