Colleagues from the Ukraine’s National Assembly, the Verkhovna Rada, to visit the Storting

In week 48, four members from the Verkhovna Rada’s administration will be coming to the Storting for a study visit arranged by their Norwegian counterparts.

In Oslo for three days, the guests will have a full programme both in and outside the Storting.

“Study visits facilitate dialogue and an exchange of experience between both MPs and administrative staff. These are a key element of the MoU, which extends from 2023 to 2027. We’re therefore delighted to welcome this first group of colleagues from the Ukrainian parliament’s administration,” said Kyrre Grimstad, the Storting’s Secretary General.

A central element of the study programme is the work of parliamentary work, not least how the Storting carries out its scrutiny of the Government. An equally important part of the three-day programme is the opportunity to meet and exchange know-how with colleagues who work in the same field as each other.

For this study visit, such diverse topics as discussions about IT security, communication work, the organization of parliamentary meetings, and research activity are on the agenda.

It is also of great interest for the Storting to learn from the Verkhovna Rada, and to try to understand what it has been like to work in a parliament under such extremely difficult conditions. Because of this, the programme also includes a session where the Ukrainian delegation will tell colleagues in the Storting about its experience of running a parliament in wartime.
